Update June 2012

Dear Aninga Project Supporters,

With the weather getting warmer and Blackberries being checked a little less frequently, I wanted to update you on what’s been going on at The Aninga Project before everyone goes into summer mode.

We have been working extremely hard this spring on two initiatives that I am very excited to share with you. The first initiative is something that is still in progress; that is, the registration of The Aninga Project as an NGO in Uganda. The registration process has been quite a complex one and has required a great deal of collaboration between our Ugandan and Canadian teams. We are very pleased to report that a great deal of progress has been made on this since Christmas. Edron has been instrumental in establishing a Ugandan board composed of individuals who have been great supporters of our initiative on the ground and are now a part of the official Aninga Project family. We would like to welcome Sharon Ajedra and Stella Atal to our team! With a legally established, active board on the ground in Uganda we now will be able to improve further some of our processes in Uganda, starting with formalizing the process for selection of the girls who we support. We are hoping to find out whether or not we will be granted NGO status sometime in the next month or two.

The other piece of very exciting news is that we have launched our new website at www.aningaproject.org. Paul Green, the principal designer at Calmunity, has worked tirelessly to create a wonderful website that meets all of our current needs and that is capable of growing with us. We are so thankful to Paul for dedicating his time and talents to helping out our organization. Please check out our new website and send us any feedback!

Please feel free to email us anytime with questions or comments.

Have a safe and happy summer!

Jenny B.
